Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking an outgoing and organized student who enjoys working with a variety of people, finds satisfaction in successfully completing administrative tasks, and would be comfortable representing SDL at K-12 STEM outreach events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and implements a variety of outreach events such as lectures, outreach activities, and tours
- Hosts public tours and represents SDL at K-12 STEM events
- Generates ideas, updates outreach materials, improves processes, and tracks and communicates results
- Provides content for SDL’s newsfeed and social media teams
- Works in a positive, cooperative, and friendly manner with co-workers and community members
- Maintains, tracks, and updates internal research and development project files and outreach program events, metrics, and processes
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must be a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled at Utah State University
- Must have an interest in STEM, science communication, or K-12 outreach
- Must be enthusiastic, innovative, and enjoy working with internal and external customers
- Outstanding communication skills – excellent listening skills, effective and clear speaking and writing skills
- Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, and problem solve
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team within established guidelines
- Attention to detail and exceptional organizational abilities
- Must be able to work two (2) to six (6) evenings each month and up to two (2) Saturdays each year to support public tours and STEM events
- GPA 3.0+
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of U.S., or other U.S. person
- Experience in speaking and giving professional presentations
- Passion for learning and ability to take complex topics and make them understandable to a diverse audience
- Computer proficiency and detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Must be able to carry and lift 25-50 lbs. on occasion
