Space Dynamics Laboratory’s (SDL's) C4ISR Systems Division is looking for a leader to serve as the Software Integrity Functional Manager, overseeing this specialized technical discipline within the C4ISR functional matrix to support the Division's mission and customers. This role reports directly to the C4ISR Senior Technical Manager and balances responsibilities for day-to-day resource allocation, process improvement, and staff development while maintaining a hands-on technical role to contribute to program success.
A Functional Manager leads a specialized technical discipline within the division, handling day-to-day resource allocation, process improvement, and staff development, while also contributing technically to programs. This position will cover up to 25% of the successful candidate's time on an overhead account. Their remaining time will need to be covered by continued technical work on programs.
The Software Integrity Functional Manager provides functional leadership and oversight for Software Test, Test Engineering, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), and DevSecOps teams. This role is responsible for establishing quality standards, testing strategies, automation practices, security integration, and continuous delivery processes across software development efforts. The manager drives software reliability, security, compliance, and operational excellence while supporting team development, technical best practices, and cross-functional collaboration.

A Functional Manager is:
- A key member of the functional matrix, directly supporting the Senior Technical Manager.
- A facilitator of matrix collaboration, ensuring effective integration and coordination.

Resource Management, including
- Program staffing and assignments: Ensures employees are effectively matched to programs by assessing team members' skills and aligning them with specific program requirements
- Staffing projections: Develops and maintains accurate staffing projections to meet upcoming program needs
- Hiring and onboarding: Executes hiring and onboarding processes, focusing on smooth integration and role-specific preparation for new hires
- Training, mentoring, and coaching: Implements training, mentoring, and coaching programs to enhance team skills
- Career and skill development: Facilitates opportunities for skill and career development within the team, aligning individual goals with the Division's strategic direction
- Performance management: Supports supervisors in addressing performance management concerns in a way that promotes accountability and growth
- Supervision development: Develops supervisors' leadership capabilities to enhance team management and performance
- Engagement and retention: Drives employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction through compensation and strategic recognition
- Process improvement and compliance management: Assists in developing and refining engineering processes within the C4ISR Systems Division to support division goals while ensuring compliance with lab-level policies and standards
- Group lead interaction and lab processes: Facilitates effective collaboration between group leads and labs, establishing processes that support efficient program execution
- Independent technical reviews: Conducts independent technical reviews to maintain high standards of quality and integrity within the division
- Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of experience or an advanced degree with at least 8 years of experience
- Relevant experience with a highly technical organization performing the following tasks:
- Training, coaching/mentoring technical personnel
- Performance management
- Resource management
- Conflict resolution
- Aerospace related work experience / program management
- Skilled in verbal and written communications
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Must be able to travel
- Active TS/SCI clearance
