Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Security Guard. This position is Saturday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. (including holidays). The selected candidate will staff the Visitor Center, issue badges, respond to alarms and emergencies, maintain the security of the SDL campus, and monitor CCTV systems.

This position offers the potential to transition into a full-time role with benefits, based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting and assisting visitors
  • Processing visitors and issuing security badges
  • Updating visit logs daily and scanning and attaching check-in form to the visit log
  • Answering phones
  • Monitoring CCTV systems
  • Issuing parking permits
  • Ensuring security protocol is followed
  • Conducting security patrols on foot
  • Responding to alarms and emergencies
  • Providing assistance as needed during emergency response
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Must live within local commuting distance to North Logan, Utah
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Ability to handle and protect sensitive information     
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with a wide range of internal and external customers
  • Possess a professional, friendly demeanor
  • Computer experience, Microsoft Office software, and various office equipment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and professional communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Exceptional observation and decision-making skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize assignments
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk long distances in the dark, in adverse weather conditions, and climb stairs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work extended hours, covering other shifts during the week as needed
  • Experience programming and issuing security badges
  • Experience operating CCTV systems
  • Working knowledge of S2 access control software
  • Working knowledge of Milestone Software
