Part-Time Security Guard

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking applicants for a Part Time Security Guard. Regular part-time schedule of Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Flexibility required to cover additional shifts as needed, including weekdays, evenings, or holidays, based on operational requirements. The selected candidate will staff the Visitor Center, conduct security patrols, respond to alarms and emergencies, monitor CCTV systems, and maintain the security of the SDL campus. The selected candidate must be punctual and reliable, and able to work alone, walk across uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and tolerate adverse weather conditions.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Greets and assists visitors
- Maintains and processes daily visit logs
- Answers phones
- Ensures security protocol is followed
- Responds to alarms and emergencies
- Assists first responders during emergencies
Required Qualifications:
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
Experience with:
- Programming and issuing security badges
- Operating CCTV systems
- Handling and protecting sensitive information
- Microsoft Office software, and various office equipment
- Performing foot patrols and alarm/emergency response
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external customers
- Present a professional, friendly demeanor
- Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and professional communication skills
- Work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Prioritize tasks
- Must possess:
- Valid US driver’s license
- Reliable transportation to and from the campus, even during non-standard hours
- Observation and decision-making skills
- Organizational skills
- Adaptability and stress management skills
- Time and task management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work extended hours, covering other shifts during the week as needed
- Working knowledge of S2 access control software
- Working knowledge of Milestone Software
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Must be able and willing to walk long distances and patrol on foot across a large campus
- Must be able and willing to traverse uneven terrain and climb stairs
- Must be able and willing to work in a variety of weather conditions
